Our Team
As the Church of Scotland nationally is changing and especially in the presbytery of Glasgow we are currently without a permanent minister. David McLachlan who was our minister from 2004 retired last year. In the mean time our Sunday worship is being led by a variety of Church of Scotland ministers and Church members.
Our History
Langside Church has a rich and varied history starting on the 22nd of June 1902 with the original “Tin Kirk”. The ministers who have led our congregation and the building itself have change a lot between then and now. - Do you need to be a member of the Church of Scotland to attend? No, all are welcome here no matter what your denominational, religious or non religious background.
- Are you LGBTQ+ affirming? Yes, we celebrate and affirm the image of God in every person as they are.
- Is there an entrance for wheelchair users? Yes, we have a ramp that wheelchair users can use to enter the building. This is found at our side gate on Falloch Road.
- Is there a Sunday school available for children? We have Young Church. This involves activities, singing and learning for nursery/primary school ages meeting on Sunday morning at 10.30am.
- Do I have to give money at Church? No, you will not be invited to give money during a Sunday service. If you have the means and feel so inclined you are welcome to donate here. You can also donate to the Lodging House Mission and Rutherglen & Cambuslang food bank, find more information on what items are needed for donation here.
- What time are Sunday services? Sunday services start at 10:30.
- I don’t have a car, what is the easiest way for me to get to Church? Where possible we would invite you to cycle or walk to Church, however, if you are too far away for this to be practical there are public transport links nearby.
- By bus: Buses 4, 5 and 6 from the City Centre all stop at the Old Victoria Infirmary which is a 5 minute walk from the Church.
- By train: Mount Florida station is the closest station to the Church and is situated on Battlefield road, this is about a 10 minute walk from the Church. From central station the train lines running to Mount Florida are Neilston or the Cathcart circle. There is also the Newton line which has two different services, one will go via Mount Florida and the other via Langside so plan in advance if you plan on taking the Newton line.
